How to Remove an Implant-Supported Denture Using the Artman Instruments Crown Remover

Removing implant-supported dentures can sometimes be challenging, but the Crown Remover by Artman Instruments is a helpful tool in such situations. Typically, your dentist will demonstrate how to remove the denture, and it's important to understand the exact point where force needs to be applied.

Start by selecting a working tip that can properly engage with the force-exerting point of the denture. For upper dentures, this point is usually located on the backside of the denture, facing the cheeks. Your dentist may create a small notch in the denture to help the tip grip securely. Once the tip is engaged, use the clicker to generate an impulse that dislodges the denture. You may need to repeat this on the right side, left side, or both.

For lower dentures, locate the retention point where the implants connect with the denture. Engage the tip at this spot and apply the removing force accordingly.

Bringing the device to your dentist and undergoing a brief training session can be very helpful for first-time users.

How to Remove a Crown Using the Artman Instruments Crown Remover

The Artman Instruments Crown Remover is a versatile tool designed to remove temporary crowns, permanent crowns, bridges, and implant-supported dentures. Each application has different instructions, but it's essential to first understand how to adjust the power setting of the tool.

The tool comes with a system kit that includes a wrench. This wrench is used to adjust the tip of the remover. About 2 inches from the tip, there is a small window. When you rotate the tip using the wrench, you’ll notice a part near the window also moves. Hold that moving part with your fingers to either tighten or loosen it—this will increase or decrease the impulse strength of the tool.

Always begin with the lowest power setting and adjust as needed. (Refer to the picture for visual guidance.)

How to remove the temporary crown:

Tip A is the most commonly used tip for the removal of crown and dentures.

Attach this tip to the main tool and tighten it with the small rod by inserting in the hole see the picture.

In the second step if the crown that need to be removed is maxillary, then engage the tip at the palatal surface of the crown and press the clicker. The crown normally gets off easily. It is advisable to use the lower power setting. Please note If the underlying tooth is root treated the tooth can break with the high-power setting. It is recommended to use the manual crown remover instead if the tooth is root treated. You can work on the palatal side first and on the buccal side later. In case of mandibular teeth use it buccal side first and then lingual side later. Try to be gentle. Multiple lower power clicks are recommended instead of a one high power click.

How to use it to remove bridge. A glass tube is provided in the kit that has a string inside. Take out this string and engage it with the given tool as the shown in picture.

This will be used to remove the bridge. Take the string and pass it  underneath the pontic of the bridge and then engage it back to the string holding tip. Now engaged tip to the clicker and when you press the clicker it will generate an impulse on the bridge and the bridge can be removed. Please note this can be more useful in removing the temporary bridges. For Permanently bonded bridges you need to work on the crown-part of the bridge buccally and lingually to loosen it.

How It Works:

1️⃣ Attach the appropriate tip based on the crown, bridge, or denture type.
2️⃣ Position the tip on the prosthetic margin and adjust the impulse strength.
3️⃣ Activate the spring-loaded mechanism to generate an impulse force, breaking the cement layer.
4️⃣ For dentures, use the removal string to engage the back end and apply a controlled jerk for easy extraction.

Thank goodness for you crown remover :)

Pros: was able to remove my crown using it and my crown was still full intact, actual teeth chip, but not as much as I anticipated

The different tools options makes it easier to figure out which will help

Cons: no instructions, the string didn’t fit through in my teeth as described in pictures

Pleasantly surprised

The automatic crown remover came with 10 attachments. I was skeptical at first. On the first try one of the small cable ferules slipped off the end. . The second longer worked and a 6 unit 3 abutment bridge instantly debonded. . Hopefully other ligatures are available. I would buy again with out reservation. $39 to remove a bridge that was in service for over 15 years in a matter of minutes was well worth the cost.
